Shoreline Restoration / Protection Program

The most rapidly developing areas within Washburn County are our shorelines. This development puts stress on the near-shore ecosystem as well as providing the potential for increased nutrient and sediment loading to area lakes and streams.

In order to reduce this stress and restore some of our developed shorelines to their natural state, the Land & Water Conservation Department provides technical and financial assistance for designing and installing shoreline restorations. Even for those do it yourself landowners, the department has helpful information available from the how to, to the what kind of plants, as well as a list area contractors who specialize in shoreline restoration.
