General Information

The primary duty of the County Surveyor is to maintain Public Land Survey System (PLSS) monuments within Washburn County. The PLSS controls property boundaries and is the basis of land title. It is estimated that about 88 percent of PLSS monuments are in place in Washburn County, and approximately 2,700 PLSS monuments have GPS coordinates. Currently, Washburn County is involved with a countywide PLSS Corner restoration project. Substantial time and tax dollars are spent every year to establish and maintain PLSS monuments. If you are aware of any activity that may disturb a PLSS corner please contact the Washburn County Surveyor immediately at (715-468-4791).

Any party found guilty of disturbing a Washburn County Monument without documented permission by the Washburn County Surveyor, is punishable by law!
