WIC - Women, Infants and Children

Program provides food vouchers and nutrition information to help keep pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants, and children less than 5 years of age healthy and strong.

To be eligible for WIC benefits in Wisconsin, a person must meet the following requirements:

  • be a pregnant, breastfeeding or new mother; be an infant up to age one; or be a child up to age 5
  • be a resident of Wisconsin
  • be income eligible
  • have a health or nutrition need

WIC serves:

  • Pregnant women
  • Breastfeeding women, until infant is 1 year old
  • Women who are not breastfeeding, until the infant is 6 months old
  • Children under the age of 5

WIC is a nutritional program that provides:

  • Free healthy foods
  • Practical nutritional tips
  • Information about community resources
  • Breastfeeding information and support

Health benefits of WIC:

  • Premature births reduced
  • Low birth-weight reduced
  • Long-term medical expenses reduced

Income Guidelines:

Many working families qualify.
You are eligible for WIC if you currently receive Kinship Care, W-2 or FoodShare.
You may be income eligible for WIC if you currently receive Medicaid or BadgerCare Plus.
