Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN)

Washburn County Health Department provides case management services to parents with children from birth to 21 years of age who have special health care needs.

The CYSHCN staff provides the following to meet the needs of children and families:

  • Establish and monitor contracts with other agencies to provide direct services such as information and referrals, parent support and service coordination.
  • Provide technical assistance, consultation, education and training.
  • Promote approaches that focus on the child and family.

The CYSHCN Program develops and partners with statewide programs to meet the needs of children with special health care needs and their families. These include the following:

  • Five Regional CYSHCN Centers
  • Wisconsin Birth Defects Prevention and Surveillance
  • Wisconsin Sound Beginnings Program
  • Statewide Parent to Parent Network
  • Statewide Nutrition Interventions
  • Medical and Dental Home Project

Washburn County Public Health Department is a rural dental clinic site one day per month. Call for information and for appointment. Prevention, education, sealants, and fluoride treatments are offered. Accepts MA recipients of all ages.
