Lightweight Utility Vehicles (LUV) Regulations and Ordinances

The LUV Pilot project is temporary and will expire on September 1, 2009. For the purpose of the project, LUV’s are considered, under State Statute, as ATV’s and must follow all rules and regulations set forth for ATV’s. In addition, any operator of an LUV must possess a valid drivers license.

Washburn County has adopted a temporary set of ordinances that expands the weight limit for vehicle use on ATV trails; requires registration; stipulates that all head lamps, tail lamps, brakes, and safety equipment must be operational in accordance with the manufactured specifications; and defines and LUV.
