DNR Hunting and Fishing Licenses
We can issue nearly all DNR hunting and fishing licenses and applications. If you are purchasing a license for the first time, you will need your driver’s license and social security number. You may also need your Hunters Safety Certificate.
By law, every customer purchasing a license is required to show proof of identity, with the exception of parents who can vouch for the identity of their children under the age of 18. In addition, anyone purchasing a Wisconsin resident license must provide proof of residency by presenting identification. A previous year’s fishing or hunting license is not proof of residency.
Proof of Wisconsin residency includes:
- Valid Wisconsin driver license (or letter of revocation or suspension); or
- Wisconsin Department of Transportation identification card; or
- Current documentation verifying name and address, which could include a WI income tax return, pay stub showing WI income tax paid or car registrations
Hunting and Fishing licenses may also be purchased on-line from the DNR.
