National Caregiver Support Program

The National Caregiver Support Program provides for multifaceted systems of support services for (1) family caregivers; and (2) grandparents or older individuals that are relative caregivers. The intent of the program is to provide information, support and assistance to family caregivers.

Services that may be provided through the National Caregiver Support Program are:

  • Information to caregivers about available services;
  • Assistance to caregivers in gaining access to services;
  • Individual counseling, organization of support groups, and training to caregivers to assist in making decisions and solving problems relating to their caregivers roles;
  • Respite care to enable caregivers to be temporarily relieved from their care giving responsibilities; and
  • Limited supplemental services to complement the care provided by caregivers.
